Growing Up Can Feel Like a Lot
Therapy for ages 12-17
You Deserve to Be Heard
Between school, friendships, family expectations, and figuring out who you are, there can be a lot to hold. You might feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or tired of trying to explain yourself. You might also be unsure whether therapy is something you want.
This is a place to talk about what life is like from your perspective and get support with what matters to you.
Things We Can Work Through
Anxiety and overthinking: Worrying about school, friendships, the future, or what other people think.
Confidence and self-worth: Comparing yourself to others, being hard on yourself, or feeling pressure to fit in.
Mood and strong emotions: Feeling down, getting irritated easily, shutting down, or struggling to explain what you feel.
School and friendships: Academic pressure, difficulty attending school, bullying, conflict, or feeling left out.
Family relationships: Frequent arguments, changing family dynamics, wanting more independence, or feeling misunderstood at home.
Substance use and decisions: Talking honestly about alcohol or drug use, peer pressure, and choices that may be causing problems.
Identity and growing up: Exploring who you are, what matters to you, and what you want as life changes.
You don’t need to relate to everything on this list or have a name for what you’re experiencing, to reach out.
You don’t need to show up knowing exactly what to say. We’ll start by getting to know each other, talking about what brought you here, and finding out what you would like help with.
Some sessions may focus on something that happened during your week. Others might involve understanding why certain situations hit so hard, questioning thoughts that keep you stuck, or practicing ways to handle strong emotions and difficult conversations. We’ll also make room for your interests, strengths, and the things that are going well.
I’ll ask questions and offer ideas, and you can tell me when something doesn’t fit or I’ve misunderstood. We’ll work together to make therapy useful to you.
My experience with teens in outpatient therapy, juvenile detention, and juvenile drug court has shaped how much I value trust, respect, and understanding the person behind their reactions.
What therapy with me looks like
It can be hard to know how to help when your teen seems overwhelmed, withdrawn, or caught in frequent conflict. You may want to understand what’s happening while also giving them room to become more independent.
I make space for your concerns while helping your teen have a voice in their care. Depending on their needs, our work may include caregiver check-ins, discussing ways to support them at home, or conversations together.
At the beginning, we’ll discuss privacy, its limits, and how information may be shared. We’ll also talk about caregiver involvement and how safety concerns are handled, so expectations are clear from the start.
You’re welcome to reach out even if you’re unsure whether therapy is the right next step.
