Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Here are some common questions to help you know what to expect.
-
Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and conversational. I believe the relationship we build is one of the most important parts of the process, and I want you to feel comfortable being honest about what you are experiencing.
Some sessions may focus on processing emotions and understanding patterns, while others may involve practical tools for coping, communication, boundaries, or navigating something happening in your life right now.
We will work together to find what feels most helpful for you.

A trauma-informed approach means recognizing that our experiences can shape the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to the world around us.
It means prioritizing safety, trust, collaboration, choice, and pacing. I believe there is often a reason behind the ways we cope and respond, and understanding those patterns can help us create more options for how we move forward.

No.
Many people seek therapy for anxiety, relationships, self-worth, stress, life transitions, or simply wanting to better understand themselves. A trauma-informed approach does not mean assuming every person has trauma; it means considering your experiences and the context behind what you are going through.

I work with adolescents and adults experiencing a variety of concerns, including:
Anxiety and overthinking
Depression and mood concerns
Trauma-related experiences
Stress and burnout
Emotional regulation challenges
Relationship and family concerns
Self-worth and identity concerns
ADHD-related concerns
Life transitions and major changes
Substance use and recovery-related concerns
My approach focuses on understanding the person behind the symptoms. A diagnosis can provide helpful information, but it does not define who you are or explain your entire story.
-
No.
Some people come to therapy with clear goals, while others simply know that something feels difficult, overwhelming, or different than they want it to be.
We can start with what is happening in your life right now and work together to understand what support would be most helpful.

Finding the right therapist matters. Therapy works best when you feel comfortable, understood, and able to be yourself.
I encourage clients to consider whether my approach, experience, and personality feel like a good fit for what they are looking for. Our first sessions are also an opportunity for both of us to see if working together feels right.

You can begin by scheduling through Headway or reaching out through the contact form.
You do not need to have the perfect explanation for why you are seeking therapy. We can start with where you are and take the next step from there.
